INTERSECTIONS. Reedblocks VII 2024
Thessaloniki Accordion Festival
Thessaloniki, Greece
2024
For the seventh consecutive year, the Thessaloniki International Accordion Festival REEDBLOCKS opens its bellows to welcome musicians from Greece and worldwide, becoming a meeting hub for collaboration and interaction.
Brazilian forró intersects with European jazz, contemporary classical creation meets Renaissance music passing through the Balkans, and together, we rediscover teaching as a source of inspiration.
Bjarke Mogensen from Denmark presents a Scandinavian-tinged tribute to Nadia Boulanger;
Maria Dafka combines her Balkan and classical experiences in a unique ‘family’ partnership,
and the Brazilian Alex de Almeida brings the dance music of his homeland into dialogue with the jazz trio led by pianist and composer Nikol Bóková from the Czech Republic.
In the REEDBLOCKS VII intersection, educators from six countries share their experiences, opening the discussion on teaching the accordion in the preschool years.
From September 20 to 22, concerts, workshops, a conference, and an accordion exhibition will take place in the magnificent neoclassical building of Casa Bianca (Municipal Gallery of Thessaloniki).
