The Thessaloniki International Accordion Festival REEDBLOCKS turns eight years old and sets out to explore new grounds. It opens its bellows and steps out from the wings onto the stage.

Three generations of accordionists engage with different forms of musical performance in three original productions. Stamatis Pasopoulos and a group of musical explorers search for the musical secrets of Midat Pasha at Islahane. Konstantinos Raptis, Katerina Konstantourou, Amalia Tsekoura, Eleni Choumou and Aris Troupakis dive into the magical world of Cocteau to create a performance of silent musical theatre. Artemis Vavatsika and Periklis Siountas draw inspiration from the stereo sound of the accordion to emerge into the surreal solitude of the “now,” giving birth to a performance of sound and movement.

From November 28 to 30, performances, book presentations, workshops, and an accordion exhibition will take place at the welcoming “Aneton” Municipal Theatre and at the Islahane Cultural Center.
